When was it made The Grandmix 1993 was created as a surprise in December 2023 Background info When it became apparent that there would  not be a Grandmix  2023, due to changes at Radio538, Ben  looked into solutions to  continue this tradition. Without telling anybody  besides Brenda,  Ben started gathering tracks for this mix and  made it whilst still  enjoying the events in December. Something  that had been  impossible for decades due to having to  make the Grandmix  with so many restrictions. The intro suggests (in typical sci-fi style)  that the Grandmix  only has appeared just now due to a  space anomaly, where  the time line as you remember was  spliced of into an  alternate reality. Suggesting the Grandmix was made  back then, ended  up in a parallel universe, and now  re-appears due to  those time-lines being merged again. Equipment & software This Grandmix was made on Mac,  using Ableton Live!  The intro features the traditional  Sennheiser Vocoder to  create the robot voices. Do check  the other Grandmix  playlists to see how those were made. Versions The original edit was approximately  61 minutes and  need to be shortened another  6 minutes to fit in the  Radio 10 broadcast slot, between  news and commercials.  The longer version is used for the  Mastermix release.  A few tracks simply were not  available for licensing,  so they had to be removed.
